I recently stayed at The Ivy Rose Tea House, just 15 minutes away from Charlottesville. This cozy cottage sits on 3 acres, offering plenty of privacy and beautiful views of the surrounding area. It’s perfect if you want a quiet retreat near the mountains and local attractions like Charlottesville.
The cottage has two bedrooms and one bathroom, making it ideal for a small group or, like in our case, a family of four. I loved the wrap-around covered deck where I enjoyed my morning coffee while taking in the peaceful scenery.
The place has all the modern amenities you could need, including a fully equipped kitchen, free WiFi, air conditioning, and even a washer and dryer. It felt like a home away from home. Plus, it’s close enough to easily visit the popular Brewery Trail in Crozet.

This cozy cabin has one bedroom and one bathroom and can sleep up to four people. At 1,200 square feet, it feels spacious yet intimate. It’s also pet-friendly, which was great because I could bring my dog along for the trip.

If you are looking for a different and unique place, check out The Recycled House. I stayed at it once and it was an amazing experience. Located in Charlottesville’s North Downtown neighborhood, this house is a true gem. It’s built mostly from materials that have been repurposed, giving them a new life.
The house took over six years to complete. You can see all the thought and effort that went into it. Every corner of the house has a story to tell.
I also love how close it is to everything. Just four blocks from the Downtown Mall, I could easily walk to shops and restaurants. The University of Virginia isn’t far away either.
The house itself sleeps six people comfortably. The inside is so unique that it’s hard to describe. You really have to see it to understand its charm.
It was fun exploring all the reused materials. Every piece has a past, and it feels like staying in a living museum. If you’re looking for a unique place to stay in Charlottesville, I can definitely recommend The Recycled House. It’s unlike anywhere else I’ve ever been.
Norfolk, VA

My family and I stayed in this amazing beachfront home in Norfolk, VA and really liked it. The house is 2,500 square feet, with three king-size bedrooms and a third floor that has two sofa beds. It’s literally just 40 steps from the sandy beach, so I could go back and forth without any hassle. The view from the balcony is stunning – I started every morning with coffee while watching the sunrise and ended each day with a glass of wine as the sun set.

I’ve found the perfect place for anyone looking to stay in Richmond, VA. This modern and spacious home has everything you could need. With 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, it comfortably sleeps 4 people. What makes it special is the blend of modern amenities and a homely feel.
When I first walked in, I noticed the fireplace right away. It’s perfect for cozying up during colder evenings. The kitchen is fully equipped, making it easy to prepare meals. The air conditioning system keeps the house cool and comfortable, especially during those hot summer days.

Art Deco Villa
My stay at the Art Deco Villa in Richmond, and it was an amazing experience. The villa is located in the Museum District, very close to Carytown and VCU. It’s a walkable area, so I could easily check out some of the best restaurants and parks in Richmond.
The villa can host up to four people with its two bedrooms. Each room had provided ample comfort and privacy, making it a cozy place to relax. The bathroom was modern and had both a bathtub and a shower, which made it super convenient.
I loved using the kitchen to prepare meals. It’s fully equipped with everything you might need. Another great thing was having a washer and dryer right there, no need to find a laundromat.
The outdoor space included a barbecue grill, which made for a fun day of grilling and hanging out. With air conditioning, the villa was always cool, even in the summer heat.

I found this amazing spot called The River House in Roanoke, VA and I thought it would be worth including it on this list. Located along the scenic Roanoke River, it offers a unique stay with a mix of historic charm and modern comforts.
Originally built in 1925 as an icehouse, this building was transformed into luxury apartments in 2012. It blends historic and modern industrial features, providing a unique living experience.
